DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS DONATES ACADEMIC BOOKS TO COOU LIBRARY AHEAD OF ACCREDITATION EXERCISE

The Department of Economics, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, donated a collection of academic books to the University Library as part of its preparations for the department’s forthcoming accreditation exercise. The books were formally presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, FNIPR, during a courtesy visit to her office. Present at the meeting was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Obiora Ejiofor, alongside other principal officers of the University.

Leading the delegation, the Head of the Department of Economics, Prof. Ogonna Ifebi, accompanied by members of staff of the department, expressed profound appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for her firm support and commitment to the growth of the department. He noted that the donation was part of the department’s strategic preparations for its forthcoming accreditation exercise, emphasizing that strengthening the University’s library resources would further enhance teaching, learning and research.

Receiving the books, Prof. Omenugha commended the Department of Economics for its foresight, teamwork and commitment to academic excellence. She described the donation as a laudable contribution to the University’s pursuit of quality education, noting that a well-stocked library remains indispensable to successful accreditation exercises and the overall advancement of scholarship within the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting academic departments in their pursuit of excellence, assuring the Department of Economics of the University’s continued support towards a successful accreditation exercise. She thanked the Head of Department and members of staff for their thoughtful gesture, describing the donation as a valuable investment that would benefit not only the department but the entire University community.

In the spirit of the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor also took a moment to celebrate Dr. Chukwunonso Ekesiobi of the Department of Economics, who marked his birthday on the same day. She congratulated him on the milestone, wishing him God’s continued wisdom, good health and greater accomplishments in his academic career.

The warm celebration added a joyful touch to the visit, which concluded with goodwill, renewed optimism and best wishes for the department’s forthcoming accreditation, in line with the University’s 3Vs mantra of Values, Viability and Visibility.
