MANAGEMENT HOSTS DISTINGUISHED DIPLOMATIC DIGNITARIES AHEAD OF FOUNDER’S DAY / 4TH CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU MEMORIAL LECTURE

Earlier today, the University Management received an array of distinguished diplomatic figures, including the European Union Ambassador, His Excellency, Mr. Gautier Mignot; the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu; Barrister Donatus Okeke; and Sir Chikwendu Ukaobasi Udensi, alongside other eminent diplomats. The delegation was formally hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026, as part of activities marking the forthcoming Founder’s Day / 4th Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, described the occasion as a moment of great significance and shared pride for the University community. She highlighted recent major achievements of the institution, including the approval and accreditation of eighteen (18) new academic programmes by the NUC, the appointment of a new Chancellor, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, and the emergence of a new Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Onwualu. According to her, these developments reflect steady progress and a renewed sense of purpose for the University.

Reaffirming the vision of her administration, the Vice Chancellor emphasized a firm commitment to advancing the University’s core ideals of 3Vs; Value, Visibility, and Viability, and overall wellbeing, noting that COOU continues to stand as a community built on happiness, growth, purpose, and shared success.

She also expressed sincere appreciation for the presence and support of the Chairman of the Founder’s Day / 4th Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture, Sir Chikwendu Ukaobasi Udensi; the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu; Barrister Donatus Okeke; the EU Ambassador, Mr. Gautier Mignot; and other distinguished diplomatic guests whose participation adds prestige to the occasion.

Indeed, the path ahead is clear, steady progress, with no turning back.
