FACULTY OF ARTS PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO COOU MANAGEMENT AHEAD OF ITS 6TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Earlier today, Wednesday, 4th February 2026, the Faculty of Arts, led by its Dean, Prof. Cynado Ezeogidi, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room.

The visit, which formed part of activities marking the Faculty’s 6th Annual Conference, attracted several high-profile dignitaries from academia, government, and public service. Notable among them were AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo, Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13 Headquarters; the Commissioner for Petroleum, Hon. Anthony Ifeanya; Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ibezim; Prof. Jeremiah Chukwuneke; Prof. Frank Collins Okafor; and Mrs. Doris Mmaduabuchi, who attended as a representative of NELFUND.

Speaking during the visit, the AIG commended Prof. Omenugha’s emergence as Vice Chancellor, describing her leadership as visionary and driven by an evident passion for institutional growth, particularly in the area of technological advancement. He, however, cautioned that in the global space, the misuse of artificial intelligence for negative purposes has become a growing concern, thereby undermining the original intent of the technology.

While welcoming the delegation, Prof. Omenugha reiterated that the University remains highly security-conscious and emphasized the importance of collaboration with security agencies. She noted that strategic engagement with the AIG and relevant authorities would further strengthen the safety and security framework of the institution.

Speaking further, the Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Faculty of Arts and its indefatigable Dean for consistently aligning with the University’s 3Vs agenda—Values, Viability, and Visibility. She reflected with gratitude on the collective efforts that have gone into building a vibrant and happy academic community, adding that she remains deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve as the first female Vice Chancellor of the University since its establishment over 25 years ago.
